Dietetics FAQ
Can I do a Dietetic appointment via Telehealth?
The only component that is not possible via Telehealth is skinfold testing.
How frequently should someone consult with a Dietitian?
Typically, it’s recommended to see a Dietitian every two weeks initially until you’re comfortable with the nutrition plan. After that, if progress is satisfactory, the intervals can be extended to every month or every two months.
For other situations, for example before and after bariatric surgery, there are set schedules that are communicated between clinician and patient.
Research indicates that maintaining contact with a Dietitian for at least six months significantly increases the likelihood of adhering to the diet plan in the long term.
Is there anything that should be brought to the appointment?
It is not necessary, however, it would be helpful if people could prepare
- A diary of an average week of eating
- Photographs of any supplements to discuss
What is a body composition analyses?
Body Composition Analysis and individualised meal plans can also be provided by your Sports Dietitian who has completed additional training in the area of Sports Nutrition and can provide dietary and nutrition advice to help you achieve your sporting goals, whatever level of sport you participate in.
