Pre-Employment Medical

If you’re in need of a pre-employment medical assessment, the General Practitioners and Primary Care Nurses here at Healthcare on Collins can assist you. The medicals are designed to determine whether you’re physically capable of doing the job that you are applying for. You may be provided with paperwork from the organisation requiring the medical examination, but in some cases, we may have the necessary forms.

To ensure timely completion of the paperwork, we ask that you arrive 15 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment. You’ll be booked for a 45-minute appointment, with the first 15 minutes with one of our Primary Care Nurses, followed by 15 to 30 minutes with the Doctor.
The assessment will vary based on your employer’s requirements and job demands. This may involve a urine test, visual acuity and hearing test, blood tests, review of your medical history, and a medical examination by the Doctor. Occasionally, some people who are applying for jobs that require more physical activity will spend some time with the Physiotherapist who will assess you exercise tolerance by asking you to perform a variety of tasks.

Once the medical examination is complete, the Doctor will prepare a report that will be sent to the company requesting it.
