Pregnancy Doctor Services

At Healthcare on Collins many General Practitioners have worked with us for more than 15 years.

Some for more than 20 years. Some have even helped in the pregnancy care of two generations.

So, if you are pregnant, and you want to make sure you receive the best possible care for yourself and your baby, here at Healthcare on Collins you will find many experienced Doctors, who specialise in managing pregnancies.

GP Consultations

During your pre-pregnancy consultation, your Doctor will arrange blood testing for antenatal screening, update your immunisations and provide lifestyle advice. After confirming your pregnancy, you will be provided with referrals for screening and specialist monitoring. Your Doctor will then see you regularly throughout your pregnancy in between Obstetrician or hospital appointments.

After giving birth, your Doctor will conduct a post-natal at six weeks. For this appointment, a 30-minute slot is reserved for you and a 30-minute appointment for your baby. Please bring your baby book and any documents from the hospital to the appointment.

To book an appointment with one of the Pregnancy Care Doctors at Healthcare on Collins you can book online via the HotDoc tab on this website. If you wish to make your appointment directly or have any question, please feel free to call our reception staff on (03) 9650 4284 and we will ensure that you are booked to see the most appropriate Doctor for your needs.

Shared Care

If you are planning to have your baby at one of the hospitals such as The Royal Women’s Hospital, the Mercy Hospital for Women, The Northern Hospital, Sunshine Hospital, Western Hospital, Monash Health, or Box Hill Hospital, several Doctors are here to provide you, your partner and your baby with shared antenatal care.

Shared care means that most of the healthcare and monitoring of your progress throughout your pregnancy is done by your Doctor, with only two to four visits required at the hospital. This can be much more comfortable and convenient for you as it reduces your travelling time, your waiting time at the hospital and your time away from work and family.

Your doctor will communicate regularly with the hospital to ensure continuity of your care. During your pregnancy, you will have routine antenatal appointments with your Doctor at around 12, 22, 30, 33, 38, and 40 weeks, with the hospital visits occurring in between. If you have any questions about antenatal and shared care, please contact our reception staff.

Pregnancy Care Appointments

The initial appointment to discuss your pregnancy will require a 30-minute consultation with your Shared Care Doctor.

Routine antenatal appointments will also be 30 minutes unless your Doctor advises otherwise.

After the birth, you and your baby will need a 30-minute appointment each (organised one after the other) for a 6-week checkup. For these appointments, please bring your baby book and any other relevant documents from the hospital.

To arrange an appointment with a Shared Maternity Care Doctors, you can phone (03) 9650 4284 or book online. When booking online, please select either the ‘Shared Care’ appointment type or the ‘6-week postnatal check’ appointment type. We are here to provide comprehensive and convenient care for you and your baby throughout your pregnancy and beyond.
