Fees
Clinicians who consult at Healthcare on Collins charge private fees for their services. The fees for clinical services are determined by each individual practitioner and are only partially covered by Medicare rebate. This fee structure is essential to enable the clinicians to provide you with efficient, high-quality and thorough care. It is important for you to have an idea of what the costs may be, so an indicative list can be found below.
Please note that the fees may vary depending on the duration of your consultation, the complexity of your medical condition and which doctor you attend.
For in-person and telehealth consultations with general practitioners, the indicative fees as of July 2024 are as follows:
- Standard consultation (up to 20 minutes): $112.00 – $130.00 (Medicare rebate: $43.90 /Out of Pocket: $68.10 – $86.10)

For in-person and telehealth general physiotherapy consultations, the fees as of February 2025 are as follows:
- Standard review consultation (30 minutes): $125.00 – $135.00
- Extended or initial consultation (45 minutes): $145.00 – $160.00
Please check with your private health insurance about how much refund you are entitled to claim.
Repeat prescriptions and referrals without a visit are $30.00 and $45.00 respectively.
For procedures, the cost will depend on the type and complexity of the procedure. We recommend that you ask your clinician or the supporting administrative staff about any costs before booking the procedure. Disposable surgical equipment is used at Healthcare on Collins. If a surgical procedure is performed, there will be an additional cost of approximately $25.00 for the use of this equipment.
For general practitioner management plans and mental health treatment plans, the costs range from $204.00 to $275.00. Please make sure to discuss these costs with the doctor during your consultation.
In addition to the consultation fee, vaccines also incur a cost. These costs are listed here.
We ask that all accounts are settled on the day of consultation. When setting via EFT, Visa Card, Mastercard or American Express, the transaction will attract a processing fee that we are no longer in a position to absorb. This merchant fee will vary according to your provider.
If you have registered your bank account details with Medicare, the rebate will be sent directly to your nominated account. If you have not registered your details with Medicare, we recommend you do so on their website: www.medicareaustralia.gov.au/online.
If the doctor refers you to another doctor, a specialist, an allied health professional or for any investigative tests, please ask us about fees and other costs that may arise.
If you have any questions about fees charged by the independent practitioners, please contact the administration team on 03 9650 4284.
CANCELLATIONS and BOOKING SCHEDULES
At Healthcare on Collins, all administration staff and health practitioners are aware that your time is valuable. Being a CBD Practice, we understand that people often take a short time away from work to attend health care appointments. We strive to provide you with efficient service and ask for your cooperation in helping your practitioners stay on schedule.
To assist with this, please make every effort to arrive on time for your appointment.
As a patient, you will appreciate that on occasions, a consultation that may have been booked for a standard time, may need longer or urgent attention that cannot be scheduled to a later time. There will be times when this results in practitioners running late for subsequent appointments.
If your practitioner is running behind schedule, the support staff will try to contact you (by phone or SMS) to let you know. If you prefer, don’t hesitate to call the centre 30 minutes before your appointment to confirm that everything is on schedule.
If you do arrive late for your appointment, the practitioner will do their best to provide you with the full consultation time, but it may not always be possible without causing other patients a significant delay. In some cases, the appointment may need to be rescheduled. Sometimes, the consultation time may need to be reduced and another time scheduled to fully address the issue.
To avoid inconveniencing other patients, please contact the clinic the day before your appointment if you need to reschedule or cancel. This will allow the staff to offer your appointment time to someone else.
Please note that cancellations with fewer than 24 hours’ notice will result in a cancellation fee. Healthcare on Collins values your time and hopes that these guidelines will help ensure a smooth and timely experience for everyone.
REPEAT SCRIPTS AND REFERRALS
To receive the best possible medical care, it is most important that a review of your medical condition occurs before a repeat prescription or ongoing referral can be provided.
There may be some uncommon situations when an appointment may not be necessary- for example, if you’ve seen your doctor within the past two to three months and omitted to request the referral or prescription you require, or if a recently issued prescription is lost.
The administration staff will be happy to assist you in such circumstances and advise the best course of action.
If it is agreed that a referral or prescription will be provided without a consultation, please allow at least 48 hours for your prescription or referral to be rewritten. An administration fee of $30.00 may be charged, and this fee cannot be reimbursed by Medicare. Please click on the Appointment/Request yellow button to request it.
Years of experience reminds us that it is extremely rare for a consultation to require “only a prescription” or “only a referral”. It presents an important opportunity to address other health issues and to review preventative health measures. These may include the need for regular blood checks (like cholesterol level, blood sugar), breast screening, bowel cancer screening, cervical cancer screening, prostate cancer screening and mental health issues.
Furthermore, requiring a review of your medical condition before providing a repeat prescription or referral is designed to ensure that your treatment plan is still appropriate and effective, and any information in the referral is accurate and up to date. This helps to avoid any risks or complications associated with ongoing treatment without proper medical oversight.
If you’re unsure about whether you need to schedule a face-to-face or telehealth appointment for this purpose or have any questions about the process, please don’t hesitate to contact the clinic.
