MyMedicare is a voluntary registration model that aims to formalise the relationship between you as a patient and your primary care team.
Since the 1st of October 2023, you can register to MyMedicare. You will need to choose your regular GP practice and your usual GP. It is important to note that this doesn’t force you to always see the GP you nominated. You will still be able to visit other GPs and medical practices.
You won’t be able to nominate a GP if you haven’t had a minimum of 2 face-to-face consultations with them in the past 12 months. For more information, please go to the department of Health website for more details: https://www.health.gov.au/our-work/mymedicare/patients
Why?
At the moment, MyMedicare gives you access to longer phone consultations with the GP you nominated. Other features will continue to be released as it grows and develops.
How?
The easiest way to register is by using your myGov app, go to Medicare services
Scroll down until you see the MyMedicare button and follow the prompts.
Please note that we have recently changed our name, you will find us as Healthcare on Collins.
